We are extremely proud to share the exciting news that not ONE but TWO Hurtwood alumnae — Georgina Steele and Amelia Hitchcock-Merritt — have been listed in the ‘Forbes 30 Under 30’ Europe list, one of the world’s most prestigious accolades for young leaders and innovators. The ‘Forbes 30 Under 30’ celebrates young individuals who are making waves in their industries—whether that be in technology, the arts or entrepreneurship.
Georgina Steele, who studied Engineering at Cambridge University after Hurtwood, is the co-founder of ‘Maiven’. This groundbreaking London-based startup uses AI to help companies avoid fines for climate regulation breaches. Launched just last year, Maiven’s technology analyses policy and company data to identify risk areas, helping businesses stay compliant in an increasingly complex regulatory landscape. The startup has already attracted significant attention, securing $1.8 million in funding from prominent climate-focused investors Pale Blue Dot and Ada Ventures. Prior to launching Maiven, Georgina worked with McLaren’s Formula 1 team, and played key roles at British fintech unicorn Tractable and the carbon offset platform Sylvera.
Amelia Hitchcock-Merritt, founded her jewellery brand ‘Bijoux De Mimi’ very shortly after leaving Hurtwood at just 18 years old, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. With only $400 of her own money and no outside investment, she has built the brand into a robust collection of jewellery, including stackable earring sets and hand chains, with over $1 million in revenue for 2024.
Hurtwood is thrilled to celebrate Amelia and Georgina’s success.
Both Amelia and Georgina will feature in series 2 of our podcast 'Hurtwood - Beyond the Hill' coming soon.
