In both the classroom and the community in general, Hurtwood offers a unique preparation for life after school – a real stepping-stone between school and university.
Life at Hurtwood is close to that of a university campus. While always under the pastoral care of the Housemaster and his staff, students earn and are granted respect and freedom of choice. Hurtwood treats students as responsible adults, and responsible adults they prove to be.
Everyone within the school is in no doubt that learning to be mature in their dealings with others is as important a lesson as anything learned in the classroom.
The end result is one of ‘managed independence’. Always mindful of the fact that sixth formers may still have many uncertainties about life, Hurtwood fosters an environment within which a student can develop their individuality at their own pace.
I don't really know where to begin when trying to thank you for the last two years – which has just been the best time of my life so far.
I have taken more than anything I thought I could at Hurtwood, with all its INCREDIBLE opportunities. I will miss this amazing school so much – which is more like a home to me.
